Mary A. Hurd passed away peacefully on May 7, 2026, in North Platte, Nebraska. , She was born on May 11, 1946, in Denver, Colorado, to Sylvester O. and Blanche A. (Breit) McGee. She was a cherished individual whose life was marked by dedication, warmth, and an unparalleled commitment to her work and loved ones.

Mary's early years were spent in Colorado, where her family relocated to Iliff. She attended school there and became a proud graduate of Iliff High School’s class of 1964. Her strong foundation in education carried her forward into a career that demonstrated both skill and precision. Known for her outstanding bookkeeping abilities, Mary meticulously balanced books down to the penny. Her exceptional talents took her to many professional endeavors, notably spending several years working with the Red Cross in North Platte, where her efforts contributed greatly to the community.

Mary's personality was as vibrant as it was compassionate. She had a profound love for every type of animal, with a special fondness for wiener dogs. This affection mirrored her warm nature and gentle spirit. The times she spent with family and friends were the true sources of her happiness, and she treasured these moments deeply.  Mary was the proud mother of her son Bradley.

She is survived by her significant other and caregiver, Larry Hahn, son Brad; her brothers Joe (Carol) McGee and Bernard (Sandy) McGee; her sister Cora (Bill) Kaus; sister-in-law Maureen (Jay) McGee-O'Shea; several nieces and nephews; and lifelong friend Linda Mari, along with other beloved family members and friends who held her dearly in their hearts.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Leo McGee, whose memories she carried with love throughout her life.

Services to honor Mary’s life will be held on Thursday, May 14, 2026, 2:00 p.m., at Adams & Swanson Funeral Home with Rev. Vidya Sagar Arikotla officiating. Book signing will be from 9:00 - 4:00, Wednesday at Adams & Swanson Funeral Home who is assisting the family. Mary A. Hurd’s legacy is one of unwavering dedication to her work, boundless love for her family and friends, and a joyful heart that embraced the simple pleasures of life and animals alike. Her memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and cherished her. May she rest in peace.
