Obituary

Mary Helen Keslar, 91, of Stapleton, passed away December 20, 2014 in Louisville, CO. She was born November 4, 1923 to Nicholas and Marie Brosius Niesen in northern Lincoln County, near Stapleton. She received her elementary education at White Plains country school. She attended Baker Rural High School in Stapleton, graduating in 1940. She taught school at White Plains for two years.
On June 10, 1942, she married Byron Keslar. The couple farmed in Logan County until 1950, when they moved to Stapleton. To this union 7 sons and a daughter were born.
Mary was a member of St. John's Catholic Church and the Altar Society. She has been a member of the Stapleton's American Legion Auxiliary since 1945. Was a member of the Twilight 12 Extension Club, Banner Mother's Club, Senior Friendship, Farm Bureau, and Pitch Club. Mary was a Librarian of the Logan County Library from 1981 to 2012. Her greatest enjoyment was her family, attending her children's high school sporting events for 26 years. She loved to play cards and dominos, did crossword puzzles daily and word find puzzles, and loved to read. Family was the most important thing in her life and is responsible for the Keslar circle of love!
Survivors include her sons, Roger (Joyce) Keslar of Sun City, AZ, Larry Keslar of Beatrice, NE, Pat (Carmen) Keslar, Phillip Keslar all of Hyannis, NE, Tom (Jean) Keslar of Syracuse, NE, and Greg (Mary) of Grand Island, NE; daughter, Karen Mitchell of Lincoln, NE; 15 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; beloved husband, Byron of 52 years; an infant son, Nicholas; 2 brothers; a sister; a son-in-law, Frank Mitchell.

Christian Wake Services will be 7:00 p.m. Friday, December 26, 2014 at St. John's Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 27, 2014 at St. John's Catholic Church in Stapleton with the Reverend Thomas Gudipalli as celebrant. Burial will be at St. John's Catholic Cemetery. Family will be receiving guests before and after the rosary. Visitation will be noon until 9:00 p.m. today and from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. Friday at Adams & Swanson Funeral Home in North Platte which is in charge of arrangements.
