Matthew Lawrence Kemper, 38, of North Platte, died May 14, 2020 at home. He was born January 30, 1982 in Dayton, Ohio, to Lawrence Kemper and Michelle Barnes.

Matthew graduated from North Scott Senior High School in 2000 and then attended college. He started work as a contractor for the military in Illinois. In November 2017, he moved back to North Platte to be closer to his family.

Matthew will be remembered as being very funny and for having a big heart for those around him. He loved animals and always wanted to open a shelter to help dogs. He was a fan of watching WWE wrestling.

Survivors include his mother, Michelle Barnes of North Platte; father, Lawrence Kemper of Eldridge, Iowa; brother, Daniel Kemper of Davenport, Iowa; grandmother, Herta Herzog of Dayton, Kentucky.

Matthew was preceded in death by his grandparents, Logan Bames and Bernita Steine.

Cremation was chosen and a private family service will be held at a later date. Adams & Swanson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
