Michael James Thiem, age 64, of North Platte, died October 14, 2023 at his home.  He was born on June 10, 1959 in Kearney, NE to Thomas James "TJ" and Linda (Denman) Thiem.

Michael graduated from North Platte High School in 1977.  He married Rachelle Carpenter in North Platte. To this union two children were born, Mathew and Jennifer.  Mike started a career with Pepsi and worked there from 1981 until 1998.  He started Great Plains Vending in 1999 and has operated it since.  Mike enjoyed camping and hunting, especially with his close friend Tim Hinde.  He was a football fan, especially for the Huskers. Mike was very social, and loved having a good time with his friends and family.  He had a great appreciation for the people he worked with too.

Survivors include his two children, Mathew Thiem, and Jennifer Thiem, both of North Platte; siblings, Troy (Marilea) Thiem of Crete, Lori Krause of Clearlake, IA, and Mindy Kramper of South Sioux City, NE; and numerous other family members and many friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents.  A memorial has been established in his name and online condolences and live streaming of the service can be made at www.adamsswanson.com.

Funeral Services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday October 21, 2023 at St. Patrick Catholic Church.  Burial will be at Floral Lawns Memorial Gardens.  Visitation will be 12-7 p.m. Friday October 20, 2023 at Adams & Swanson Funeral Home, which is in charge of arrangements.
