IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Milton W.
Lehman
September 26, 1931 – December 16, 2021
Milton Walter Lehman, 90, of North Platte went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 16, 2021. He was a dedicated and loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was born on the family farm, just outside Berne, Indiana, on September 26, 1931 to Walter and Wilma Lehman.
Milton graduated from Berne High School in 1948 and, in 1952, served the US Army as a medic in Korea, reaching the rank of sergeant.
After his military service he attended Bob Jones University, earning a Bachelor of Arts in 1958, followed by a Bachelor of Divinity in 1961. It was at Bob Jones he met the love of his life Maurine Pickens. They married August 10, 1958 and were partners in life for the next 50 years.
Following graduation, they moved to Nebraska where they ministered at the Tallin Union Church, south of Arnold. During their time at Tallin, they were blessed with 2 boys: Douglas and Steven.
In 1964 they moved to North Platte where Milt started working at the Union Pacific Railroad as a switchman, then a conductor until he retired in 1995. Even though he worked at the railroad, he maintained a ministry throughout his life, teaching Sunday school, filling area pulpits when churches needed a pastor, volunteering at the Berean Church, Maranatha Bible Camp and the Golden Spike.
Milton is survived by two sons, Douglas (LeeAnn) of Mount Hope, WV, Steven (Anita) Lehman of North Platte; four brothers Roy (Karen) Lehman, William (Becky) Lehman, Franklin (Suzie) Lehman, Murl (Barbara) Lehman: seven grandchildren: Kyle (Jessica), Shea (Laura) Lehman, Galen (Kaitlynn) Lehman, Dane Lehman, Devon (James) Logwood, Ethan, Janalee (Nathan) Schell; seven great grandchildren: Caden, Noah, Lillian, Branson, Scarlett, Pennie, and Barrett.
He was preceded in death by his wife Maurine Lehman, parents Walter and Wilma Lehman, siblings Norman Lehman, Gerald Lehman, Joseph Lehman, Marie Noonan and Lynn Lehman.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to North Platte Berean Church (North Platte, NE), Maranatha Bible Camp (Maxwell, NE), Miracle Hill Ministries (Greenville, SC) or Brian's Safe House (Beckley, WV).
Services will be held 10:00 a.m., Friday, January 7, 2022 at North Platte Berean Church, with interment following at Good Hope Cemetery. Visitation will be noon-5:00 P.M., Thursday, January 6, 2022 at Adams & Swanson Funeral Home which is in charge of arrangements.
