Mitchell Douglas Murphy Sr., 70, of North Platte, passed away December 13, 2023 at home.  He was born on June 25, 1953 to Dale Sr. and Rosella (Love) Murphy in Valentine.

Mitchell grew up in Seneca, Thedford, and North Platte.  He worked as a mechanic wherever he went.  Mitchell married Janet Warnick on October 8, 1972 in Central City.  The couple lived all over Nebraska, finally settling in North Platte.

Mitchell was always helping the people around him and was a true people person.  Family was the center of his life and he was very close to his brothers.  He was a fierce defender of his grandchildren and loved them greatly.

Survivors include wife, Janet of North Platte; children, Fred (Misty) Murphy of North Platte, Mellisa (Chris) Marshall of North Platte; sister, Nina (Larry) Hardy of Seneca; grandchildren, Fred Jr. (Elizabeth) Murphy of North Platte, Mitchell (Samantha) Murphy III of North Platte, Michael Millard of Renton, WA, Amanda Murphy of North Platte, Jeffery Murphy of North Platte, Randy Murphy Jr. of North Platte, Rebecca (Wyatt) Wolf of Paxton, Ashley Murphy of North Platte; great grandchildren, Fred Murphy III, Dallas Murphy, Dale Murphy, Jeffery Murphy Jr., James Murphy; numerous other family members and many friends.

Preceding him in death are parents, Dale and Rosella; sons, Mitchell II, and shortly after Mitchell's death, his son Randy passed away on the same day; brothers, Dale and Ron; sister, Fredia Dennis; in-laws, Elmer and Eunice Warnick.

Services will be held 3:00 P.M., Friday, December 15, 2023 at Adams & Swanson Funeral Home with Reverend Vaugn Fahrenbruck officiating.  Adams & Swanson Funeral Home is in Charge of arrangements.
