Obituary

Myrtle E. Houchin Henderson, age 92, of North Platte, passed away, Thursday, March 7, 2013 at Great Plains Regional Medical Center. She was born December 2, 1920 in North Platte to Claude and Lula (Hazen) Lantz.
Myrtle married Robert Kenton in February 1937. To this union a son Blaine was born. On December 6, 1939, she married Paul Houchin. To this union four children were born; Henry, Pauline, Kathy, and David. Myrtle worked at several places, including Elliot's Tastee Treat. She later married Virgil Henderson on September 10, 1993 in Washington. Myrtle loved to cook and collect cookbooks. She also enjoyed knitting and crocheting, quilting, and putting together puzzles.
Survivors include her children, Blaine ( Kathy) Kenton of Richland, WA, Hank (Harvey) Houchin of North Platte, Pauline (Vernon) Waits of Tryon, and David Houchin of North Platte; a son-in-law, Stephen Weston of North Platte; grandchildren, Mona (Lloyd) Braves of Colorado, Jerry (Jeannine) Houchin of Kansas, Sherri Higgins of Michagan, Tandy (Steve) Waskin of Michigan, Eddie (Diana) Budzynski of Michigan, Lara (Mikhael) Honeywell of Stapleton, Deb (Terry) Olson of Denton, NE, Steve (Vicki) Waits of Tryon, Mike (Wanda) Waits of Tryon, Kevin (Melissa) Kenton of Washington, Kerry (Becky) Kenton of Washington, and Kreg ( Brenda) Kenton of Washington; son-in-laws, Clint Lindgren of Oregon, and Gary French of California, Richard Henderson of California 42 great grandchildren, and 15 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, a daughter Kathy Weston, daughter-in-laws, Mildred Houchin and Kathy Kenton; 3 step-daughters, Rosella Lindgren, Judy French, and Terry Stransky; a great-granddaughter, Kristin Kenton; and a sister, Anna Henderson. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, March 11th at Adams & Swanson Chapel with Rev. Gary Goodwin officiating. Burial will follow at Floral Lawns Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Saturday and Sunday from 12:00 p.m. until 6 p.m. Adams & Swanson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
