Bob was raised on a ranch in Bucktail (formerly Cullinan) NE, where his father ranched and his mother ran the post office for the local citizens out of their residence. He attended country school where he was taught by all of his sisters and high school in Arthur, NE where he stayed in a hay bale house while attending school during the week. Bob entered the US Army on October 15, 1954, serving as a welder/mechanic stationed in Germany until 1957 when he returned to Arthur. He met the love of his life, Louise Hoover, in Ogallala, NE and they were married on October 14, 1961. Bob and Louise lived in Ogallala, at the family ranch and south of Paxton until they moved to Sarben in 1965 where they raised a family and remained until moving to North Platte in 2018. Bob was an excellent guitar player and enjoyed listening to and playing music his entire life. He ran his own blacksmith/machinist shop in Paxton and carried contract mail between Paxton and Bucktail for many years before he began designing and building well casing perforation equipment, initially for Foulk's Pipe and subsequently Titan Industries in Paxton before retiring.
