Robert "Bob" Dwaine Mason, aged 82, passed away on November 6, 2023, at Hilltop Estates in Gothenburg, NE. He was born to Robert and Leona (Einspahr) Mason on October 28, 1941 in Anselmo, NE.
Bob lived in Redfield, SD as a child with his mother and grandparents while his father was overseas in the Army. Upon his father's return, the family moved to North Platte. He followed in his father's footsteps and enlisted in the United States Army in 1964. After returning home, he met Susanna Beckius at a roller-skating rink in Ogallala, NE. They were married in June of 1970 and brought two children to the world, Michael and Michelle.
Bob worked for Sixth Street grocery store for some time before hiring on for the Union Pacific Railroad as a brakeman for 17 years. Following his employment with UPRR, he began working in the produce section at Walmart, where he worked until his retirement in 2006.
He enjoyed following the North Platte Bulldogs and Nebraska football. Bob also attended coffee meetings with friends at Arby's frequently. He once enjoyed meeting at the donut shop to play cribbage and cards. Bob was a jokester and always made a point to conversate with people he knew while out in public.
Survivors of Bob include his wife, Sue Mason; children, Michael Mason and Michelle Mason; grandkids, Taylor Erickson, Melinda Gertsh, and Nathaniel Gertsch; siblings, Mona (Roger) Hayashi, and Kenny (Marci) Mason; other family and friends.
Those preceding him in death are his parents; brother, Doug Mason; other relatives.

Graveside services will be held on Thursday, November 9, 2023, at 2 PM at Fort McPherson National Cemetery with full military honors. Book signing will be on Wednesday, November 8, 2023, from 9 AM to 5 PM at Adams and Swanson Funeral Home.
