Robert "Bob" William Smallfield, 84, of North Platte, passed away on January 21, 2022, at Great Plains Health. He was born on July 28, 1937, in Pueblo, Colorado to Robert and Thelma (Long) Smallfield.
Bob grew up and graduated high school in Sacramento, CA. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1957 and served our country until 1961. He married Betty Blatnick on April 28, 1962, in Ely, NV. To this union, their son was born, Robert. Bob worked in the weather service profession for several years, transferring to Lompoc, CA, Long Beach, and Salt Lake City, UT before eventually settling in North Platte. He then worked for Larry's RV before retiring.
Bob and his wife enjoyed traveling and spending winters in Texas. He loved to take his son camping in the summers and enjoyed fishing trips, one of the most memorable being when they went ocean fishing. They attended all kinds of sporting events together. He will always be remembered as a devoted father and husband. Bob was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus.
Survivors include his son, Robert "Bob" (fiancée, Amy Pankonin) Smallfield; grandchildren, Sabrina Rosenberg, Michelle Wright, Soniea Wright, Jacob Oliver; great-grandchild, Luna Ann Wright; other family, Kerrie (Kelly) Conway, Damon, Drake, and Trenton; as well as other family.
Preceding Bob in death are his parents; and wife, Betty.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 A.M., Monday, January 31, 2022, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church. Christian Wake service will be 10:30 A.M., Monday, January 31, 2022, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church. Burial will be held at Fort McPherson National Cemetery with full military honors. Visitation will take place on Sunday, January 30, 2022, from noon to 6 P.M. with family present from 4 to 6 P.M. at Adams & Swanson Funeral Home which is in care of arrangements.
