Rodger Dale Fischer, a dedicated truck driver and scrap metal collector known for his spirited nature and love of the outdoors, passed away unexpectedly on March 24, 2026, at Great Plains Health. Born on May 12, 1959, in Wichita, Kansas, Rodger’s life was marked by his enduring enthusiasm for camping, fishing, and embracing the beauty of nature.
A graduate of North Platte High School in 1977, Rodger carried his Midwestern roots with pride throughout his life. He was not only admired for his hardworking spirit behind the wheel and in his metal collecting endeavors but also cherished for his playful sense of humor. Family and friends fondly recall his joy in teasing loved ones and the joy he found each year in scouting out the houses with the most festive Christmas lights.
Rodger is survived by his devoted wife, Karlene (Sommer) Fischer; his loving son, Robert Stout of Gering, Nebraska; his sister, Carol (Vince) Brehm of Wahoo, Nebraska; and brothers Randy (Tarea) Fischer of Hays, Kansas, and Ronny Fischer of Las Vegas, Nevada. He is also remembered by many other family members and friends who were touched by his warmth and spirited personality.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ralph; mother, Virginia; sister, Sonia (Arterburn); and daughter, Rachel, whose memories he held close to his heart.

Family, friends, and those whose lives were brightened by Rodger’s presence are invited to honor his memory at Adams & Swanson Funeral Home. A visitation will be held on March 26, 2026, from 12:00 PM until 7:00 PM, with family present from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, followed by a funeral service on March 27, 2026, commencing at 1:00 PM at the funeral home. Subsequently, burial will take place at Riverview Cemetery in Sutherland, Nebraska.
