Obituary

Roger Lee Beckett, age 67 of Stapleton, passed away Saturday May 18, 2013 as the result of an auto accident.
Roger was born on July 14, 1945 in Huntington, WV to Arnold and Loevenia (Blevins) Beckett. He grew up in Huntington and after high school entered the US Army. He served in Korea during the Vietnam War. Roger earned a diesel mechanic degree in the military after Korea. After his discharge he returned to West Virginia. He began his music career and played behind many famous musicians including Johnny Paycheck and Waylon Jennings. He drove a semi truck for 20 years. On December 23, 1995 he married Barbara Kramer and the couple settled in Stapleton. They continued to play their music together for 20 years working the road all over the country, as well as local venues. They truly enjoyed their time working together.
Roger will be remembered as a man of all means. He enjoyed fishing, traveling, old cars, he loved his pets and he loved his Lord. He was a caring man and a loving husband and father.
Roger is survived by his wife Barbara of Stapleton; children Joshua Lee Beckett of Stapleton, Regina (Tom) Burns of McCook, Robert Sean (Joann) Beckett of Michigan, and Roger Lee (and wife) Beckett Jr. also of Michigan; numerous grandchildren; sister Lucretia Riley of Heath, OH; uncle Robert Blevins of Huntington, WV; nephew Chris Whyde of Long Beach, CA; and many other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother in law Fred Riley.
A memorial has been established in his name and online condolences may be shared at www.adamsswanson.com. Cremation was chosen and a memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday May 29, 2013 at Adams and Swanson Funeral Home with Chaplain Robin Storer officiating. Those wishing to do so may sign the register book Monday noon until 4:00 and Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until 5 p.m. at Adams and Swanson Funeral Home, which is in charge of arrangements.
