Samantha Marie Markey, 38, of North Platte, passed away September 29, 2020, at her home. She was born November 2, 1981 to Suzi Main, in Colorado Springs, CO.

Samantha graduated from Hershey High School, Hershey, NE and then lived in Sutherland where she raised her family. She went to school to become a CNA and worked as a care giver. She also worked at Burger King for many years with her sister.

She always put her family above all others and was selfless to everyone. Samantha loved her family and her dogs, not always in that order. Samantha and her partner, Brad, created a family as they raised 6 girls.

Survivors include her 2 daughters, Alexis Markey and Allee Markey of North Platte; mother, Suzi (Scot) Brown, North Platte; partner, Brad McCartney and his 4 daughters, Keisha, Kaylee, Kierra and Kelsey, all of North Platte; siblings, Kimberly Barthel, Valparaiso, IN, Terry Barthel, Council Bluffs, IA, Brent (Sharalee) Rinke, North Platte, Chole Brown, North Platte; nieces and nephews, Chase Barthel, Curty Barthel, T.J. Barthel, Braxton Barthel, Bennett Barthel, Alyssa Miller, Tatume Rinke, Spencer Rinke, Moxson Rinke, Addison Brown; and many other family members and many friends.

Samantha is preceded in death by her son, Douglas Allen Markey Jr.

Memorial services will be held 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, October 6, 2020 at Maria Lutheran Church in Hershey.
