Sharron K. (Gillett) Henry, age 84, passed away on August 6, 2024 at Great Plains Health in North Platte, Nebraska.  Sharron was born in Tekamah, Nebraska, to Kenneth and Viola (Curren) Gillett on December 27, 1939.

In 1943 the family moved to North Platte, Nebraska, where they farmed until the summer of 1957 at which time they moved to Kearney, Nebraska, where Sharron attended Kearney State College.  Upon her graduation from Kearney State College in 1963, she entered the Peace Corps and served in Colombia, South America.  Upon the completion of her Peace Corps service in 1965, she went directly to Puerto Rico where she taught at Interamerican University of Puerto Rico until 2003.  During that time, she completed her Master's Degree there and obtained her doctors degree from the University of Nebraska, Lincoln.  While in Puerto Rico she married Jose Padilla with whom she had two daughters Tania and Natalie.  In 2003 she returned to Nebraska where she married her high school sweetheart, Bill J. Henry.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth and Viola Gillett and sister, Linda.

Sharron is survived by her husband, Bill Henry; daughters, Tania Sercl, Natalie Padilla (April); special niece, Shari Johnson; four grandchildren; four grand nephews; eight step-grandchildren; and one step great-granddaughter; brother, Kenneth F. "Bud" (Linda) Gillett.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the First Baptist Church, North Platte or the Women's Resource Center, North Platte.

Memorial services will be held at 1:30 P.M., Friday, August 23, 2024, at First Baptist Church, North Platte, with Rev. Kem Reeder officiating.  Book signing will be from 9-3, Thursday, August 22 at Adams & Swanson Funeral Home who is assisting the family.
