Shirley Kugler, of Paxton, died peacefully in her sleep at the Birch Nursing Home, In Sutherland, Nebraska, on February 10, 2024, at the age of 87.  She was born Shirley Jane Taylor, January 5, 1937.  Her parents were Chester Carpenter Taylor and Laura Jane (Case) Taylor.

Shirley lived in Milliken, Colorado and then moved to North Platte where she attended school.  Shirley graduated from North Platte High School with the class of 1955.  She met her future husband across the backyard fence, as their parents were neighbors.  She was united in marriage to Don Kugler on April 5, 1958.  They started a family right away.  Unfortunately, they lost a set of twins later that year.  In 1960 they welcomed a daughter Nicki Jolene, in 1962, son, John Clifton was born and in 1964, son, Timothy Taylor was born and completed their family.   The family moved to Paxton in 1973.  Shirley was a busy stay-at-home mom.  She was active in the community, a member of the Methodist Church, Legion Auxiliary and Garden Club.  Shirley also loved going to coffee with her friends.

Shirley is preceded in death by her husband Don; twin son Kelly and twin daughter Kendra; son Tim; her parents; 3 sisters; 1 brother.

She is survived by her daughter, Nicki Kugler-Stroup; grandsons Rourke (Naomi) Stroup; Kordell Stroup; sister, Delores Glaser; son, John (Marci) Kugler.

Memorial services will be held at 1:00 P.M., (MT), Friday, February 23, 2024, at the Paxton United Methodist Church, Paxton, Nebraska with Rev. Mark Baldwin officiating.  Book signing will be 9-4, Thursday, February 22 at Adams & Swanson Funeral Home.  Inurnment will be at a later date at Fort McPherson National Cemetery, Maxwell, Nebraska.  Adams & Swanson Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
