IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Steven Henry
Murdock
April 13, 1950 – December 1, 2024
Steven H. Murdock, age 74, shed his mortal body and ascended into Heaven on December 1, 2024, after succumbing to a hard-fought battle with cancer. He was born in Chadron, Nebraska on April 13, 1950, to Paul and Blanche (Siekert) Murdock.
He was raised on a ranch outside of Chadron, graduating from Chadron High School in 1968. He graduated from Denver Auto Tech in 1969 and entered the United States Army on May 12th, 1970, serving in Vietnam in the Engineering division until January 16th, 1972, when he was Honorably Discharged. He then moved to North Platte where he became a member of the American Legion Post 164. He started his own
automobile maintenance shop, North Side Conoco, in May of 1972, he later partnered with his brother Richard at Rich's Auto Repair in 1978, remaining there until his retirement in August of 2018. He married Deborah L. Small on June 14th, 1975, and to this union, two sons were born, Chad Allen and Shawn Paul Murdock. He was baptized on June 22nd, 1986, at Valley Christian Church, later transferring membership to First Christian Church where he served as Elder and a Deacon, for many years. His time spent serving within the church brought him much joy, primarily in his opportunities to provide breakfast to his church family as well as to the Christian Women group in North Platte. Not only did he cherish his time of giving but also the quality time spent serving alongside his brothers in Christ. He enjoyed wood working in his shop, building furniture for his children and grandchildren, of course with the assistance of a keen eye and guidance from a patient wife. He relished the time that he was able to spend outside, maintaining his garden and greenhouse, reaping a plentiful bounty of vegetables to share with friends and family.
Steven was preceded in death by his mother and father, Blanche & Paul Murdock; sister and brother-in-law Carol Jeanne (Ben) Grenevitch and brother Paul Duane Murdock; grandsons Caide & Owen Murdock; father-in-law Everett Small; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law Jennifer Nieto, Pam (Don) Small and Connie Murdock.
