Susan Lyn (Kennedy) Scripter was born October 18, 1965, in Gordon, NE to Thornton Leroy Kennedy and Patty Jo (Leach) Kennedy. She went home to Jesus on October 31, 2025.

She attended Rushville High School in Rushville, NE and graduated from there in 1984. The family moved to Brownlee in 1988.

Susan's greatest joy was the birth of her son Cole in 2002.

She married the love of her life, Kenny Scripter on June 15, 2007. Their love was cut short when Kenny lost his battle to cancer in 2011.

During her years in Valentine, she worked at IGA, Scotty's, Shopko, Cherry Hills Estates, and Valentine Elementary School. She was well known for her kindness and her work ethic.

Susan came to Jesus in 2024. She had a strong faith and used it to try to help others. She had moved to North Platte towards the end of 2024 and had met many new people who loved her like family. She had worked at Adams Middle School until transferring to Lincoln Elementary, where she had the position of lead, a job that she enjoyed immensely and took great pride in. She had a love for feeding and getting to know her students. She will be greatly missed by so many.

Susan was preceded in death by her parents and her husband. She is survived by her son Cole Kennedy of Norfolk, NE; 3 brothers, Steve Kennedy of Crookston, NE; Scott Kennedy; and Jerry Kennedy; and 1 sister Connie Hardin.

Adams-Swanson Funeral Home of North Platte was entrusted with cremation. Pastor Stephen Williams of Burwell, longtime friend of Susan's, will be officiating the ceremony. It will be held at Valentine Berean Church at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 13, 2025.
