Obituary

Sydney "Butch" Wayne Letourneau, age 73, of North Platte, Nebraska, passed away Friday, June 20, 2025, at home surrounded by his beloved family. Butch was born September 15, 1951, to Sydney Owen and Mable (Hardy) Letourneau in Pasadena, California.

Butch was an avid fisherman and racer and spent many years competing. His garage is filled with trophies from the multiple races he won over the years, including many top placements and victories in Baja 1000's. He was also a prominent member of the Checkers Racing Club. Butch also poured his passion into his many jobs throughout the years, working as a screen printer, engineer, and mold builder. He even owned his own business, Letourneau Tool & Dye, where his work brought him great renown and success. Those who knew him knew he could do anything he put his mind to, with the talent and intuition to excel in any task and the stubbornness to finish what he started. He passed along his hard-working mindset to his beloved children, Scott and Monique, and to his many grandchildren. He was proud of his family, always showing his love for them whenever he got the chance and supporting them in all of their events. Though he was a quiet man, ironically referred to as a "man of many words", his love was never in question and showed through in all of his actions.

Those left to cherish Butch's memory are his wife, Iris Letourneau; children Scott (Tiffany) Letourneau and Monique (Bob) Swickla; grandchildren Ryan Letourneau, Dylan Letourneau, Sydney Letourneau, McKenzie Swickla, and Jacob Swickla; life-long friends Gary Jones and Frankie Mitchner; and many more family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents Syd and Mable; sister Sherry Letourneau; and parents-in-law Helen and Orson Hughes.

Cremation has been chosen. Adams and Swanson Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Memorials may be made to the family for future designation.
