Thomas Doyle King, 72, of North Platte, passed away on May 1, 2021 at Great Plains Health, North Platte.

Tom was born October 23, 1948, in Yankton, South Dakota, to Doyle and Jean (Van Epps) King. He grew up in South Dakota. Tom enlisted in the army in December 1965, serving in Germany and France. He lived and worked in Nebraska, Colorado, Wyoming and South Dakota as a truckdriver, arborist, lineman and an entrepreneur. Then moving to North Platte were held various jobs leading to a career of 27 years on the Union Pacific Railroad. He later married Janice Carpenter, she proceeded him in death.

Survivors include his sons, Thomas King, North Platte and Marcus Young; stepmother, Sharon O'Connor, St. David, AZ; 5 siblings, Mary Ann (Ray) Haase, Norfolk, NE, Shirley (Charles) English, Stewart, TN, Dennis King, Norfolk, NE, Diane Jorgensen, Yankton, SD, Douglas King, Irene SD., along with numerous other family members and friends.

Tom was preceded in death by his wife, Janice King; father, Doyle King; mother, Jean Wildermuth; step-father, Lee Wildermuth.

Graveside services will be May 7, 2021, 10:00 a.m., at North Platte Cemetery, North Platte.
