In Loving Memory of Velma Ryan
Velma Belle Ryan, of North Platte, passed away at the age of 92, on Monday, June 22, 2020 at Centennial Park. Velma was born July 4, 1928 to William Dean and Margaret Della (Ison) Jackson in Akron, Colorado. She grew up in Colorado, living in Platner and Sterling, then North Platte where she attended high school. After graduation, she became a telephone operator for Northwestern Bell for 29 years, retiring in April 1981. Most important to Velma was her family, making cards, bridge, walking, traveling, reading, her faith and making rosaries for the missions.
She is survived by her husband, Don; sons; Mike and wife Marsha Ryan, Doug and wife Rose Ryan and Christopher and wife Laurie Ryan, all of North Platte Grandson; Aaron and wife Sarah Ryan; greatgrandchildren, Tyson and Jade; numerous nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
A Christian wake service will be held on Friday, June 26, 9:30 A.M., prior to Mass of Christian Burial, 10:00 A.M., Friday, June 26, 2020 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, North Platte, Nebraska, with Rev. Sagar as celebrant. Burial will follow at Ft. McPherson National Cemetery, Maxwell, Nebraska.
Visitation will be 9:00 A.M. – 5:00 P.M. Thursday, June 25, 2020 at Adams & Swanson Funeral Home which is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers the family asks memorials to be made to Holy Spirit Catholic Church in memory of Velma. For those who are unable to attend the service, it will be it will be live streamed at Adams and Swanson Facebook page.
