Knott
February 8, 1948 – March 12, 2021
Verdena E. Knott, age 73, of North Platte, died March 12, 2021 at Swedish Medical Center in Denver. She was born on February 8, 1948 in North Platte to Clarence and Ida (Haddock) Mathers. Verdena graduated from North Platte High School. On January 18, 1969, Verdena married Douglas Knott in North Platte. The couple moved to Ogallala to help family ranch and then moved to Arthur to work on the Triangle Ranch. Later, the couple moved to North Platte where Verdena stayed home to raise her family.
Verdena will be remembered for her unconditional love, loving fiercely and strong, and acting as the center of her family. She enjoyed crafting and baking, and spending time with her grandkids. She had an eye for measurement and only Doug could hang things straight.
Survivors include her husband of 52 years, Doug Knott of North Platte; 3 children, Todd Knott , Tracy (Kylee) Knott, and Tina (Justin) Pitre, all of North Platte; 7 grandchildren, Ann (Benjamin) Martin of North Platte, Kalab Knott of Lincoln, Keegan (Alexis Bacon) Knott, Rylan Axtell, Izaiah Pitre, Ayden Knott, and Ian Pitre, all of North Platte; 4 great grandchildren, Lucas, Nellie, & Benjamin Martin, and Preston Knott; a brother, Daniel (Martha) Mathers of Maxwell; a sister, Patricia Albers of Sidney; and numerous other family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Marlene and Karen; and daughter in law, Terri Knott. A memorial has been established to the Gift of Hope Cancer Foundation and online condolences can be made at www.adamsswanson.com .
Services will be 11:30 a.m. Friday, March 19, 2021 at Adams & Swanson Chapel with the Rev Clint Walker officiating. Burial will be at Fort McPherson National Cemetery near Maxwell, NE. Visitation will be Thursday, March 18, from 12-7 at Adams & Swanson Funeral Home. The service will be livestreamed on the Adams & Swanson Facebook page.
