IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Virgil G.
Apodaca
April 1, 1968 – May 18, 2025
Virgil Gary Apodaca, of North Platte, NE, passed away in Lincoln, NE on Sunday, May 18,2025, at the age of 57.
He was born in North Platte on April 1, 1968, to Joe and Lupe Apodaca and worked in construction in the tri-cities of Nebraska. Virgil was an open hearted and selfless man that always watched over his friends and those in need. He was a happy go lucky soul with a free spirit, full of joy. Many who knew him, knew his humorous character was a memory not forgotten. Virgil was a jack of all trades and filled with creativity, building about anything he came across. He loved music and a cruise in the night. He enjoyed time spent with his family, especially his sisters, his special aunt, Jennie and his kids, but most of all, his grandchildren, who were the light of his life and meant the world to him.
Virgil faced several challenging trials and tribulations in his life, one of them being the 12 ½ years spent taking dialysis treatments, but after moving to Lincoln, he had become humbler. In his last days, he showed a great deal of joy and always left his family smiling at the end of each phone and video call.
Survivors include sons, Anthony and Jeromy Apodaca of North Platte, Virgil Apodaca, Jr. of Hastings, Isaiah Hausman of Missoula, MT; daughters, Amber Santos of Grand Island, Kerrisa (Lane) Kelly of Donavan, Natasha Smith of Lincoln, Sharradawn "Sezzy" Mendoza of Missouri; sisters, Anna (Jim) Smith of North Platte, Colleen "Lena" (Chuck) Davis of Kearney; brother, Danny Apodaca of Kearney; uncle, Herman Caudillo of Westminster, CO; aunt, Jennie Lopez of North Platte; 24 grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and many cousins.
