Obituary

Virginia “Ginger” Snodgrass, age 86, of North Platte, Nebraska, passed away on April 20, 2026, in North Platte. She was born on November 23, 1939, in Cozad, Nebraska, to Robert and Elenora (Jahorek) Maiefski.

Virginia grew up in Hemingford, Nebraska, where she graduated from Hemingford High School. She furthered her education by attending Business School in Rapid City, South Dakota. Her professional career included working for the Union Pacific Railroad in Cheyenne, Wyoming. On September 16, 1961, Virginia married Rodney “Rod” Snodgrass at St. Bridget’s Catholic Church in Hemingford. The couple first lived in Chadron, then moved to Grand Island, Nebraska, where Virginia was employed at the hospital. In 1968, they settled in North Platte. There, Virginia dedicated 30 years as the office manager of the Vo Tech Program and later worked at the Lincoln County Courthouse and Cabela’s Call Center.

Virginia had many interests and hobbies throughout her life. She enjoyed bowling, shuffleboard, playing pitch, camping, and fishing. She had a love for horseback riding and was once crowned Crawford Rodeo Queen. In her younger years, she also participated in barrel racing. Virginia treasured being involved in her children’s and grandchildren’s activities.

She is lovingly remembered by her children, Robyn (Rudy) Perez, Rhonda (John) May, and Jason Snodgrass, all of North Platte; grandchildren; Anthony Ryan May, Jacqueline Perez, Craissa Perez, and Ashley May; great-grandchild Avery Ryan May-Hansen; and two sisters, Dorothy Swanson of Hemingford and Cathy (Phil Minard) Albrecht of North Platte, along with numerous other family members and friends.

Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Elenore Maiefski; her husband, Rod Snodgrass; her son, Leslie J. Snodgrass; and her grandson, Anthony Ryan May.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Monday, April 27, 2026, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in North Platte, Nebraska, with burial to follow at Floral Lawns Memorial Gardens.
