Vivian M
Arent
Aug 21, 1936 — Jun 30, 2026
Vivian M. Arent, age 89, of North Platte, Nebraska, passed away Tuesday, June 30, 2026, at the Maples Centennial Nursing Home.
Vivian was born August 21, 1936, in Curtis, Nebraska, to Ira A. and Doris L. (Guthrie) Mills. She grew up in Curtis, graduating from Curtis High School. After graduation, Vivian moved to North Platte. There she commuted every day with a group of girls to Goodall Electric Manufacturing in Ogallala, Nebraska, where she worked. While working, Vivian met the love of her life, Virgil F. Arent, and the two were wed on June 28, 1958. To this union were born their beloved children Roxanne, Fred, Jeff, Kim, and Brian. Throughout her adult life, Vivian worked various jobs, dietary aide at Great Plains Hospital, cleaned homes and businesses, and an associate at Pro-Printing. In her later years, she was a faithful attendant of her card club and Bunco games.
Vivian loved to travel whenever possible. She loved traveling to new places with new experiences and then getting back home and scrapbooking all her new photos and memories. She also loved music and was never far from the dance floor at weddings and social gatherings. But the thing Vivian loved most of all was her family. She loved attending events for her children and grand-children and lived for family reunions. She loved hosting, especially for Easter and Christmas, and enjoyed watermelon, sausage, and sweet corn at family cookouts. She lived to see her family grow four generations and now rests peacefully knowing that they will do her proud every day as she watches over them.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Virgil; children Roxanne M. (Jim) White, Fred E. Arent, Jeff D. (Lisa) Arent, Kim D. (Stacey) Wolf, and Brian L. (Lisa) Arent; 17 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; sisters Lois Vogl of Wyoming and Ardith Avery of Texas; and many more family and friends whose lives she touched.
Vivian is preceded in death by her parents Ira and Doris, sister Ila Faye Dragoo, and brothers Leon and Rodney Mills.
