Wayne Edward Tiffany, age 86, of Stapleton passed away May 3, 2014 at the Valley County Hospital in Ord, Nebraska.  Wayne was born to Clifford O. and Zina Tiffany on a farm 3 miles west of Loup City, NE on October 20, 1927.  He was the second of four children, Lurene Tiffany Zentz, Wayne, Doris Jean Thompsen and Pauline Lutes.

The family moved to a farm 10 miles west of Stapleton, NE in 1929.  Wayne attended various country schools and graduated from Baker Rural High School in 1946.

Wayne married the love of his life, Doris Fattig August 27, 1950 at the home of her parents west of Stapleton.  They lived on various farms in Sherman County where they started their family.  To their union were born 6 children.  Three boys, Steve, Russ, and Mark, then three girls, Rhonda, Bonnie, and Vickie.

In 1960 they moved back to the Stapleton area where Wayne was employed by the Wells Ranch for many years.  Wayne then worked in construction of the Gerald Gentleman Power Plant at Sutherland.  Following a brief stint as a feed salesman in Kansas Wayne drove a propane truck for McMullens in Thedford for twenty years.

Wayne and Doris retired to Wayne's mother's home in Gandy where they lived before moving to Burwell in 2011 to be near their son Russ and wife Marcia.

Wayne was an active member of the Stapleton Presbyterian Church where he held various offices.  Wherever Wayne and Doris lived they sought out a church.

Wayne was a dedicated family man.  He loved horses and cattle and most other animals.  He raised exotic pheasants, goats, and always had dogs and cats around.  Wayne also loved to garden, raising traditional fare as well as trying different things such as peanut and cotton.

Wayne leaves to mourn his wife of 63 years, Doris of Stapleton; children, Steve (Carol) Tiffany of Council Grove, KS, Russ (Marcia) Tiffany of Burwell, NE, Mark Tiffany of North Platte, NE, Rhonda Tiffany of Burwell, NE, Bonnie (Bob) Klink of Sequim, WA, and Vickie Tiffany of Mead, CO; 12 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.

Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford and Zina Tiffany; mother and father-in-law, Glenn and Helen Fattig; sisters, Lurene Zentz and Pauline Lutes; and a grandson, Travis Klink.

Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 8, 2014 at Cornerstone Evangelical Presbyterian Church in Stapleton with the Reverend Stan Gurney officiating.  Burial will follow at Loup Valley Cemetery west of Stapleton.  Visitation will be 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. Wednesday May 7, 2014 at Adams & Swanson Funeral Home in North Platte which is in charge of arrangements.
