William Vincent Drost, of North Platte, passed away peacefully on May 9, 2026, at the age of 85.

Born on October 24, 1940, in Ogallala, NE, to Dr. William (Doc) Drost and Muriel (Min) Welsh Drost. William was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, businessman, and longtime member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.

William loved golfing, hunting, football, and most of all, spending time with his family, daughters, and grandchildren.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Carol Buntgen Drost; daughters Kathryn Drost Zurcher, of Glendora, CA, and Elizabeth (Jon) Roessler, of La Quinta, CA; grandchildren Jake Monnier (fiancée Thalia Tenorio), of San Diego, CA, Sam Roessler, of North Platte, Shane Roessler, Jessica Roessler, and Emily Roessler, of La Quinta, CA; sister Annette Reimers, of Ogallala, NE; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his infant son, William Vincent Drost III; his parents, Dr. William (Doc) Drost and Muriel (Min) Drost; sisters, Susan Bradley, Barbara Hinde, Kay Suhr, Janie Davis, and Margie Altig; and his beloved dog and loyal companion Daisy.

Bill will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.

Celebration of Life and Mass to be held at a later date.
