William Andrew Cox

A Life Remembered with Love

William Andrew Cox was a loving father, grandfather, son, and friend whose warmth, humor, and love for his family will never be forgotten.

Born in Tacoma, Washington, William spent part of his childhood in Waco, Texas before moving to North Platte, Nebraska.

William began working at Larry’s Glass while still in high school. In 1994, he began his career as an engineer with Union Pacific Railroad.

In January 1992, William married Ann Ponce, and together they built a family and welcomed three children: Anthony, Jefferson, and Emma. He was also a proud grandfather to seven grandchildren: Malakai and Darian Camacho, Adriana Cox, Briar, Ridge, Crew Cox, and Charlie Buckingham. He was loved by many nieces and nephews as well.

He was a softy at heart, never shy about giving hugs and kisses on the cheek. He had a way of showing his love through the little things.

William had a passion for racing and enjoyed racing modified race cars. His first race took place in Columbus, Nebraska. He was also an avid NASCAR fan and loved sharing that passion with his children and his sister Angie. Whether it was watching races or talking about the sport, these were moments he treasured and memories his children and family will carry with them.

Music was one of his greatest joys. He loved discovering new songs and sharing his favorites with the people he loved. He loved to dance, he danced the night away at Emma's wedding, creating a memory that will be cherished forever.

William was also a devoted sports fan, proudly cheering for the Nebraska Cornhuskers and Dallas Cowboys. But his greatest enjoyment came from watching his own children play sports. He rarely missed a game. He would quietly walk in, find a seat by himself, and watch from the sidelines. His quiet presence will be missed.

William is survived by his mother, Deb Forbes; his sisters, Angie Forbes and Jen (Morgan) Fletcher; his children, Anthony Cox, Jefferson (Natalie) Cox, Emma (Austey) Buckingham and a bonus daughter McKinley Ponce; his seven grandchildren, Malakai and Darian Camacho, Adriana Cox, Briar, Ridge, Crew Cox, and Charlie Buckingham; and many nieces and nephews.

To those who knew him, he will be remembered for his gentle nature, his sense of humor, and his love for his family. To his children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews he will always be remembered as one who cheered them on, shared his music, and made sure they knew they were loved.

He will be deeply missed by his children, grandchildren, extended family, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

With all our love,

His children and family
